The car GAZ-64 was the first serial-wheel drive car of the Gorky Automobile Plant. The vehicle is intended for communications, reconnaissance, command units and as the transport for a light anti-tank artillery. The car was designed in 1941. GAZ-64 was manufactured by small batches in 1941 and 1942. Chassis of the car was the basis for the armored car BA-64; then, mass vehicle GAZ-67 was designed on the basis of GAZ-64.
