GAZ-55 Ambulance was developed at the Gorky Automobile Plant in 1937 on the basis of units GAZ-AA lorry. Its production began in 1938 and lasted until 1950. The bus was designed to carry four stretcher and two sedentary patients. The full speed of bus on the highway was 70 km/h. It was most common in ambulance in the Red Army during the Great Patriotic War. There were built 12369 vehicles GAZ-55 during 13 years.
