BMD-3 airborne combat vehicle was adopted in 1990 to replace the obsolete BMD-1 and BMD-2. The combat vehicle had a turret unified with the BMP-2 and was armed with a 30 mm 2A42 cannon, a 7.62 mm PKT machine gun paired with it, an AGS-17 “Plamya” course grenade launcher, a 5.45 mm RPKS machine gun and the Concurs ATGM. The crew consisted of a commander, driver, weapons operator and 7 paratroopers. Between 1990 and 1997, 137 serial BMD-3s were produced.
